No, this is not always the case. While diamond plate can run up to .01" underside the specific tolerance over the specified value depends on the thickness of the plate. What pattern sizes can I receive on diamond floor plate?
Standard pattern sizes for steel floor plate or diamond floor plate are 4' x 8', 4' x 10', 5' x 8', 8' x 10' and 8' x 20'. Depending on the material thickness, there may be added availability in 5', 6 or 7' widths. Your ECONSTEEL sales team can help you determine availability.
How much stock is needed for burned plate?
Plate burning, or plate cutting, is the process by which diamond floor plate is cut to size with ignited gas or liquid. Please keep in mind that, whenever a steel floor plate is burned, there will be a Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ). With a thin plate this may only be about 1/16" per side; however, on heavier plate (6" and over), this could be as much as 1/8" per side (1/4" overall). This area will have small cracks, affected chemistry, and altered physical properties. If you need a clean finish or the edges are worn, you will want to clean up beyond the HAZ. In addition, you need to consider the burn tolerance, which will be larger the thicker the plate is.
Because the amount of necessary stock can vary, it's best to give your finished dimensions to your ECONSTEEL team and let them know your finish requirements ahead of time to receive an accurate estimate. We will then ensure you receive parts you
What are some common applications of diamond floor plate?
Thanks to the raised diamond lug pattern on the upwards-facing surface, the steel floor plate is an exceptional material for areas that require increased slip or skid resistance. The raised tread pattern allows moisture to flow beneath the contact point making it highly desirable for the food or beverage industry where routine cleaning occurs. Carbon steel diamond floor plate has the strength to stand up to structural applications such as ramps, shipping docks, and walkways.
